Zambales: An Overview of the Province

Zambales is a province of the Philippines located in the Central Luzon region. Its capital is the city of Iba. Zambales borders the provinces of Pampanga to the north, Bataan to the east, and Tarlac to the south. To the west lies the South China Sea.

The province is home to the Aeta people, who are thought to be the country’s earliest inhabitants. Zambales was originally settled by the Austronesian people who came to the Philippines around 2000 BCE. The first recorded settlers of the area were the Tingguians, who arrived around 1000 BCE.

The province was an important producer of gold during the Spanish colonial period. Mining continued even after the Americans took over in 1898. The province was also the site of a major uprising against the Japanese during World War II.

Today, Zambales is known for its beautiful beaches, which attract both local and foreign tourists. The province is also a major producer of mangoes, which are exported to other parts of the Philippines and abroad.
