DPWH Breaks Ground for AFPRESCOM Training Building
Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Roger G. Mercado on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 led the groundbreaking of the four (4)-storey Armed Forces of the Philippines Reserve Command (AFPRESCOM) Training Building in Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City.
The project is part of the Tatag ng Imprastraktura sa Kapayapaan at Seguridad (TIKAS) Program which is a convergence between DPWH and Department of National Defense.

“This training building project will be able to provide a safe and secure space for the manpower development of reserved forces so they can better perform their duties as future frontliners in protecting the nation and providing assistance in relief and rescue operations during local or national disaster, and for other civil assistance activities for the Filipinos,” said Secretary Mercado.
Present in the groundbreaking ceremony are AFP Deputy Chief of Staff Vice Admiral Rommel Anthony S.D. Reyes, AFPRESCOM Commander Colonel Vicente M. Ronatay, DPWH Senior Undersecretary Rafael C. Yabut, Undersecretary Emil K. Sadain, Assistant Secretaries Wilfredo S. Mallari and Rolito D. Manalo, Project Manager John Dominique Pulido, and DPWH Quezon City 2nd District Engineer Eduardo V. Santos and Assistant District Engineer Leandro O. Visorde.

Secretary Mercado also assured the structural integrity and aesthetic appeal of the building project when completed.
AFPRESCOM Training School building is envisioned to hone and develop personnel and be enlisted as reservists through the two (2) primary mode of enlisting/training: Military Orientation Training Course (MOTC), and the Basic Citizens Military Training (BCMT).

The facility will be able to groom commission officers which may come from licensed professionals like doctors, nurses, lawyers.

With funding allocation of P40 Million in the 2022 budget, the 4-storey Training School Building project has a lot area of 273 square meters and a floor area of 1,092 square meters.
The ground floor will provide additional office space and the remaining floors will house the classrooms for trainings of the army reservists.
